Metode de masurare a capacitatii conexiunilor in retele pe fir

Rezumat: In retelele de comunicatii de date, capacitatea conexiunilor este importanta pentru transferul rapid al datelor, controlul calitatii serviciului QoS in retea, alegerea resurselor hardware si dezvoltarea diferitelor aplicatii. Exista 2 tehnici de masurare a capacitatii unei conexiuni realizate pe retele cu fir: PPTD (Packet Pair/Train Dispersion), care masoara dispersia perechilor/trenurilor de pachete transmise de sursa catre receptor si VPS (Variable Packet Size), care masoara intarzierile pachetelor de diferite marimi pana la nodurile conexiunii, utilizand mesajele de eroare ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol). Pe baza acestor tehnici au fost dezvoltate o serie de metode de masurare a capacitatii conexiunilor, doua dintre acestea, Pathrate si Pathchar, fiind descrise in acest articol.

Abstract: In data communication networks, path capacity is important in the transfer speed of data, control of quality of service QoS, hardware selection and development of new applications. Two techniques are used to measure the capacity of an wired network path: PPTD (Packet Pair/Train Dispersion), which assesses the dispersion of packet pairs/train send from the source to the receiver, and VPS (Variable Packet Size), which measures the packets delay at the path nodes using ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol) error messages. Based on these techniques have been developed a number of path capacity measurement methods, two of them, Pathrate ?i Pathchar, are described in present paper.
