An investigation on the effects of soliton interaction on timing jitter in communication channels

Rezumat: Incertitudinea timpului de intarziere (jitter) este determinata de interactia solitonica si de emisia spontana de zgomot din fibra optica. Se prezinta un model analitic al distributiei timpului de intarziere bazat pe o secventa aleatoare a interactiei dintre solitoni. Modelul ia in considerare si efectele emisiei spontane de zgomot produsa de fiecare etaj de amplificare.

Abstract: The uncertainty of the arrival time (jitter) is caused by both the soliton interaction and the amplified spontaneous emission noise in the optical fiber. The present work presents an analytical model of the arrival time statistics, which relies on a pseudorandom pulse sequence. The model takes into account the effects of the amplified spontaneous emission noise in each amplifier stage as well.
